Child and Family Workers

The Integrated Family Services program has vacancies in the Shepparton and Cobram offices. These positions are full time ongoing roles with positions for both experienced and graduate candidates.

Child and Family Services works with families where there are children up to 18 years of age.  The program aims to enhance family, child, and young peoples health and well-being, to help prevent child abuse and neglect and to support the family through major life transitions and times of difficulties.  We utilise a strength-based approach in supporting families to achieve their goals and work in alignment with the best interest’s framework.

A range of approaches from brief, early intervention and prevention, through to more intensive, long term support are provided to assist families to develop or enhance their ability to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children.

The successful applicant will require suitable tertiary qualifications and experience in social welfare practice and an understanding of the issues related to families, children and adolescents in the areas of family functioning, parent/child relationships and child and adolescent development. Experience in case work practice and case management is desirable along with high level communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary ranges from $67,000 – $80,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

Carer Coach – 0.7 EFT ongoing

The Carer Coach role is responsible for the coordination, development, implementation and ongoing delivery of the Facilitated Coaching Program that is part of the Carer Gateway Service. The Facilitated Coaching service is a short term psychosocial support which aims to increase the capacity and capabilities of carers. It is a non-therapeutic approach and is not a crisis intervention. The service supports carers by providing them with the skills to identify their own needs and develop strategies to improve their caring situation and overall wellbeing.

This position requires someone with Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, community Services or Welfare, Mental Health or equivalent discipline or experience. Knowledge of the community care sector and service systems is a benefit. Demonstrated experience working with clients in a respectful way, along with the capacity to conduct thorough, person-centred assessments and plans is required.

In Person Peer Support Coordinator – 0.6 EFT ongoing

The Carer Support Coordinator – In Person Peer Support role is responsible for the coordination, development, implementation and ongoing delivery of the In Person Peer Support Program that is part of the Carer Gateway Service. The role will involve working with carers to facilitate the development of peer support groups and provide resourcing with the intent that the groups become self-directed.

The successful applicant requires tertiary qualifications in Social Work, community Services or Welfare, Mental Health or equivalent discipline or experience. Lived experience as an informal carer would be of benefit.

Understanding the issues related to the caring role and a knowledge of the community care sector and service systems is advantageous. Demonstrated experience in facilitating group programs is also required.

Young Carers Support Coordinator – 0.5 EFT – Ongoing

The Young Carer Support Coordinator is responsible for managing a case load of young carers. Young carers are people aged 25 years and under who provide unpaid, informal care for a family member or friend with support needs. Young Carer Support Coordinators provide information, referral and advocacy to support young carers and their families to access appropriate support, services and resources.

Tertiary qualifications in either Social Work, Youth Work, Health, Community Services or Welfare, or equivalent discipline or experience will be required to undertake this position. Knowledge of the community care sector including challenges faced by young carers is important. Experience in community activities and facilitating active participation of young people to engage.

NDIS Support Coordinator 

Full time – 12 Month Contract

The suitable applicant will require tertiary qualifications in Disability, Social Work, Health, Welfare or equivalent and relevant experience. Experience of working with people with a disability is required along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The NDIS Support Coordinator provides support coordination to participants of the NDIS to assist them in implementing the supports outlined in their NDIS plan. This includes informal, mainstream and community supports as well as funded supports. The Support Coordinator will assist NDIS participants to:

– Understand their plan
– Identify and connect with services and providers to help them achieve their goals
– Arrange assessments that may be required
– Develop skills and build capacity to self-coordinate their supports.

Marketing and Communications Officer – Carer Support Services

0.5 EFT – 12 Month Contract

This position will be suited to someone with Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications or public relations or equivalent discipline or significant experience. Experience is desirable to assist with coordinating marketing campaigns and event management. Understanding the issues related specifically to the caring role is important.

The Marketing and Communications Officer is a new role developed to assist Carer Gateway outlets in their promotion of the Carer Gateway. Carer Gateway services are delivered by eight outlets across Victoria. It is an initiative of the Australian Government to provide in person, online and over the phone information and practical support for Australia’s 2.65 million carers. FamilyCare delivers Carer Gateway services in the Local Government Areas of Benalla, Greater Shepparton, Mansfield, Mitchell, Moira, Murrindindi and Strathbogie.

Guided by the Marketing and Communications Advisor and the Carer Gateway State Marketing and Communications Plan, the Marketing and Communications Officer will play an important role working to support the promotion of Carer Gateway within FamilyCare’s catchment area.
