Innovative Counselling
Innovative Counselling is available for mums, dads and/or children with Child Protection involvement looking to work through some of their traumatic experiences, and / or for emotional support. It is offered to children under the age of 18 and/ or the parent or carer of the child/ren. Innovative counselling is a short term service with 6 sessions available for adults and up to 12 sessions for children. At present, FamilyCare is able to offer play therapy for children as required as a part of their Innovative Counselling involvement.
Eligibility:
CP services is the main referrer of clients to Innovative Counselling through CP services. Alternately, clients can refer themselves, or a member of the community or an internal FamilyCare worker can refer them.
The client needs to meet the following criteria to be considered eligible for Innovative Counselling:
- be a child (under the age of 18), or the parent or carer of a child
- have a current or historical involvement with CP services
- reside in the FamilyCare catchment.
